The Providence County Courthouse, Providence, Rhode Island
Rhode Island's PROVIDENCE COUNTY COURTHOUSE is at the base of the hill leading up to the colonial era houses on Benefit Street and the campus of Brown University and of the Rhode Island School of Design. It houses the Superior Court and Supreme Court facilities in a large, federal style, building. The symmetry of the building is notable, as is its dominant location: not many urban courthouses can be seen as an entirety as this one was when this photograph was taken in 1973–the city may have grown around it since then!
